President’s introductory message

Hoa Sen University’s identified mission is contribution to the training of new Vietnamese intellectuals, who are professional, enthusiastic and competent and will integrate into a wider community. The mission  is a commitment to the real interests of the students and of the communities.

 Within less than two years of operation as a university, Hoa Sen University has gained some achievements, though modest and preliminary. From an early stage on, we could see the appearance of a Vietnamese university coming into existence from a difficult and tumultuous social environment. By the end of 2007, VND 16 billion had been invested in facilities and equipment, 60% of the official lecturers had degrees of masters or higher, 10% of them professors, associate professors and doctors. The scale of training has grown considerably, consequently with development of a strong staff , the University has been able to guarantee an average rate of 17 students per lecturer. The international scientific symposium “The activeness of thinking, the method and spirit of university” was the initiative upon which the University bas ed their essence of higher education, which made an impact in the scholastic field and became a catalyst for creating Hoa Sen University’s new subjects, skills and methods. As a result, the students are provided with studying materials, the classrooms and labs in campus two are more spacious and teachers and students have become more acquainted with scholastic credits. 

During the 2008-2009 school-year , construction was increased on the two campuses creating a long-term foundation for future growth. The management staff and lecturers have been developed in both quantity and quality and internationalization has been promoted. English has been used more, and the students may also learn more languages, such as French and Chinese. Joint programs, international cooperation and collaboration with enterprises have multiplied and become more diversified. More and more international professors, lecturers, researchers and students come to the University to teach, study, work and exchange cultures. The Scholastic Advisory Council including the majority of professional members and enterprises participate frequently and directly in the activities of the University. The 2009 scientific symposium sponsored by the University discussed the question: “Which is the university for Vietnam in the 21st century?”, a question that the researchers and educators, both domestic and foreign, and our social partners, debated looking for solutions ; not only one solution and not only for Vietnam. The first expectation was to decreas e the wrinkles in the cerebrum and liberat e one’s thinking in order to adapt to the context of globalization and a ceaselessly and fast changing world  which may provide many opportunities but which may also be accompanied  with many risks and dangers.

To truly study is to achieve self-value of knowledge, skills and personality. It is for understanding, working and living , for discovering and enhancing ones own ability and that of others . It is to confirm one’s talent, enthusiasm, critical ability and self-creativeness and that of colleagues, teams and others humans in an effort to serve communities, and at the same time preserving our heritage and creating new values in the intellectual economy.

We hope that th is webpage updated and innovated in both form and content will continue to be updated and that it promote s interaction with its readers. The webpage is intended to be  friendly and useful to you whether you were, are or will be lecturers, staff, students or relatives of Hoa Sen University; this includes enterprises, other universities, pedagogical or social partners or simply visitors meeting us while searching on the net.
