INTRODUCTION

From 2007 to 2008, Hoa Sen University rearranged their departmental design and the Languages and Cultural Studies Department was accordingly established. The Foreign Languages and Tourism Departments and the Information Communication Subject were combined. With the new orientation, the Languages and Cultural Studies Department will develop teaching majors to meet your requirements, and that of society and the country in educational  development.

Toward development of the Vietnamese economy, the  Tourism/Hotel-Restaurant and Foreign Languages majors fulfill a large and critical part of the labor market at the present and in the future.

With regard to a linguistics major, general English and business English is the most popular among the language majors and both are also the strength of the Department. However, the department also aims to train English teachers and translators/interpreters. French, Japanese and Chinese are included in addition to English. The Department teaches not only foreign languages but also Vietnamese information communication, Vietnamese culture, American and English cultures, and Vietnamese and Vietnamese culture for foreign students (in a cooperative student exchange program with universities in the world).

Certainly you may now thoroughly realize the advantage of learning a foreign language. In addition, Vietnam is presently integrating into the globalization network and is in urgent need of a labor force that has a master of foreign languages. When you graduate in any major and have mastered a foreign language well, then surely it will be much easier to find a job.

The  Languages and Cultural Studies Department follows the university objective towards real quality teaching and learning. To fulfill this important objective, the department has lecturers who have graduated from prestigious domestic and international universities and have experience gained from many years of teaching; especially, new methodologies, educational concepts and materials are applied. All of these efforts are to equip you with wide specialized knowledge, excellent job skills and appropriate social behavior after graduation.
