INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

ON THE STATUS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN VIETNAM:

"AUTONOMOUS THINKING, SELF-GOVERNMENT AND TEACHING

METHODS"

       LETTER OF PRESIDENT

Higher education institutions have a basic status of autonomous thinking  and self-government.   They   are   the   bases   for   teaching   and   learning.   In   the tertiary environment,  teachers  and  learners  can  actively  choose  their  own  methods  and curricula for the best outcomes. The graduates from institutions of higher learning should be good citizens with rich knowledge and professional skills. They have an ability for autonomous, logical thinking and a capacity for invention.

However,   for   some   reasons,   the   status   of   autonomous   thinking   and   self- government has not been promoted in the higher education institutions in Vietnam.

This  conference  plans  to  bring  together  the  expertise  of  educators,  researchers, teachers  and  students  to  discuss  and  exchange  opinions  and  experiences  for building   up   the status   of   autonomous   thinking,   self-government   and   choosing appropriate   approaches   to  improve   the   teaching   and  learning   in  the   higher education institutions in Vietnam.  These contributions enhance the real effective quality  education  which  meets  the  needs  of  our  society  in  emerging  into  the globalized world.
