On behalf of Hoa Sen University, it would be our privilege to welcome you to the seminar on “The importance of gender equity to national development: 1001 Myths about Gender Relations” at Hoa Sen University, 93 Cao Thang Street District 3 HCMC on September 07, 2009.
Returning to Hoa Sen University to continue the Lady Trieu project from last year, Dr. Nguyen will be giving a second seminar on “1001 Myths about Gender Relations”. Growing up in Viet Nam and having researched on gender equity for the last 15 years in Canada, Dr. Nguyen has discovered many myths that have continued to plague both women and men in developing countries.
Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang currently teaches Women’s Studies in the Department of Humanities, University of Toronto Scarborough. She received her Bachelor of Commerce, Honours Economics (1995) from Concordia University, Montreal; Master of Arts, Economics (1996); and Doctor of Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies and Asian Research (2004), both from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver; and a post-doctoral fellow at the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto. There, she has taught Political Science, Women’s Studies, Asia-Pacific Studies and East Asian Studies at this University. She was a consultant for the United Nations in Hanoi in 1997 and has worked in the areas of poverty reduction and gender equality in Vietnam since 1996.
